Geology in Parmesan Apennines

Rocks and minerals and landscape

The rock, the stone, the stones, are all elements that have always attracted me greatly: just as the force of gravity attracts everything to itself, so for me every stone, small or large, is endowed with an almost magic that enchants my eyes and speaks to my spirit, almost as if the indecipherable mystery of our origins were hidden there, in that apparently inert primordial matter, the rocks have precisely this gravitational power over me, they attract me.

I like to move in rocky, lunar landscapes, among sharp spurs, towers that rise powerfully towards the sky, as well as among the undulating layers that are often exposed by the waters in the deepest valleys. I am fascinated by the sacredness that is perceived in certain caves or canyons, I like to feel direct contact with the rock, touch it, caress it, walk on it barefoot, feel its energy, as if it had the power to put me in contact with the spirit of our planet, and with it create a bridge with the cosmos itself.

We must not forget that around the world of stones there is a whole symbology made up of shapes and colours, which has its roots in the mists of time. According to these ancient sciences, stones are capable of transmitting particular subtle energies which can interact with our body and our psyche, having the power of suggestion and healing. There are also interesting modern studies on the energies that flow in the subsoil of our planet, and which in some areas emerge from the ground as sources, creating particular environments.

Our ancestors knew about these forces, these energies, not only did they know their existence but they also knew how to use their benefits, the ancients knew how to look for and use these telluric energies that flow in the depths of the earth and knew how to find those places where these energies they came out of the ground to radiate into space, and from space other energies re-enter the earth, in a continuous exchange, powerful energies and vibrations that can be positive and negative, capable of profoundly influencing our psyche and our body, of this the ancient people were aware of this, and for this reason prehistoric places of worship, castles, hermitages or sanctuaries were always built in places incomprehensibly incomprehensible and isolated to us or in particular geological contexts. These are precisely places where the telluric energies of the planet are most concentrated, where these energies flow more on the surface, and where it is possible to use them to improve our physical well-being and to access deeper states of consciousness.

According to these ancient sciences, stones are capable of transmitting particular subtle energies which can interact with our body and our psyche, having the power of suggestion and healing. There are also interesting studies on the energies that flow in the subsoil of our planet, and which in some areas emerge from the ground as springs, creating particular environments that favor meditation, healing or contact with other dimensions or energies. Studies that have their roots in ancient wisdom, in fact sacred places where rites and ceremonies were practiced, dolmens and stone circles, sanctuaries and places of worship, were built in particular geographical areas, where strong terrestrial and non-terrestrial tellural energies arose or converged, no place was chosen at random, and even more recently churches and castles more or less consciously modeled these places, to appropriate their energies.

It is a very fascinating theme, which deserves to be explored in depth and makes us see the rocks and the landscape itself with different eyes, less mechanistic and more spiritual, the landscape is not just an inert jumble of stones, but a living organism, gifted of its own intelligence and its own soul, and with which we can interact and relate.

Barite crystal

19/01/2024

A small crystal of probable Barite (size about 4 mm) stands out against a background of Calcite crystals. Sample found in the clayey badlands of Rubbiano, near Fornovo Taro. Nature always surprises, even hiding its treasures inside the rocks., In the deep darkness of the bowels of Mother Earth.

Traces of icnofossils found in a limestone pebble in Val Mozzola, in the Parma Apennines. These are traces of Condrites (probably Fucoides), or footprints left by the passage of ancient living organisms such as worms, or the tunnels dug by them, then over time filled by the sediment of other mineral substances. These ancient organisms moved on the...

River's stones

"Whoever places so much value on a stone will always be surrounded by treasures, wherever he goes"

A small symbolic labyrinth of stones in Val Taro, which I built some time ago in an old abandoned quarry near Roccamurata.

The beautiful emerald-colored lake of the Val Cogena, near Belforte, now only a good memory, in an old slightly faded slide.
