Andar per acque in Romagna

Fiumi impetuosi di acque di emozioni, coste, lagune e placidi laghetti.

   Quando si dice Romagna, il primo pensiero corre subito alla riviera Adriatica, al mare e alle discoteche, ma in Romagna ci sono molte altre cose da scoprire, come la zona del Delta del Po, le Valli di Comacchio e le Foreste Casentinesi, ambienti bellissimi e suggestivi. Oltre alle coste, anche lemontagne dell'appennino romagnolo quindi nascondo molti tesori quasi sconosciuti, e tra questi i bellissimi fiumi ricchi di acque cristalline spesso color smeraldo, con cascate, piscine naturali, forre e canyon veramente selvaggi e spettacolari.

   Ho notato con piacere che da queste parti molte persone frequentano il fiume, per passeggiare, per fare bagni rinfrescanti, per leggere, meditare, praticare yoga o semplicemente per rilassarsi, divertirsi e stare a contatto con la natura: nella mia provincia invece, spesso manca questo contatto con la natura "dietro casa", dalle mie parti è molto più radicato il "mito" del viaggio esotico o delle località "inn".  Poi si sa, ai romagnoli piaceve vivere un po' sopra le righe, "anche perchè qui un sole estuoso batte su teste già calde di loro, così da renderle roventi" (1), e lo si nota anche da alcuni particolari che ho visto in luoghi sperduti e difficili da raggiungere. Per raggiungere alcuni punti sul fiume particolarmente scoscesi, non si sa bene da chi, sono state messe delle corde per agevolare la discesa  nei punti più esposti, ed in questi luoghi remoti ignoti bagnati hanno costruito rudimentali rifugi con sassi e bastoni, messo funi appese agli alberi usate per lanciarsi nelle pozze d'acqua e sotto alle cascate, e tanti barbecue improvvisati si notano sparsi tra le spiaggette di sassi. E non da meno, in diverse occasioni mi è capitato di incontrare bagnanti felici ed in pace col mondo, paghi di sfoggiare il loro costume adamitico, e con i quali mi sono trovato subito in empatia. Tanti modi interessanti per godersi la natura e la libertà, immersi in fiumi e foreste d'incanto, e devo riportare con piacere, per dovere di cronaca, di non aver mai trovato rifiuti abbandonati, un merito notevole ai romagnoli !

   In molti storie popolari, racconti e leggende della Romagna, si fa appunto riferimento al carattere a volte un po' smodato ed esuberante dei suoi abitanti, facendo da monito alle nefaste conseguenze di taluni comportamenti, anche se girando per l'Italia, e non solo, si vede ben che tutto il mondo è paese, un luogo comune che non viene mai smentito. "Ma tant'è che i romagnoli sono, al contrario, per carattere, sanguigni, irruenti, e difficilmente riescono a non correrre al di sopra delle righe. D'altra parte alcuni famosi proverbi ribadiscono in maniera ricca e concreta questo carattere spesso eccessivo e apparentemente indomabile. Se il detto magnè e ragnè e' piò l'è prinzipiè (mangiare e litigare il più è cominciare) sottolinea come per un romagnolo sia difficile misurare le proprie azioni dal momento in cui l'impeto e la passione si sono scatenati, quello che bòn magnador l'è un bòn lavurador (buon mangiatore è un buon lavoratore) smorza i toni evidenziando come, nella vita di tutti i giorni, si possa trovare il modo di conciliare e bilanciare gli elementi negativi e quelli positivi." (2)  E questo carattere un po' altalenante non risparmia neppure chi dovrebbe dare il buon esempio di sobrietà e rettitudine, come don Piren "un vecchio parroco, arguto cultore tanto del dialetto romagnolo quanto del miglior sangiovese, che contagiato dal luogo, nei rari momenti di lucidità consentitigli dal vino, soleva terminare i suoi bizzarri interventi con la ricorrente battuta: ... e non v'è dubbio alcuno che tutti i matti vengan da Seguno." (1) (Seguno è un piccolo paesino della collina forlivese, famoso per lo strambo comportamento dei suoi abitanti, trattasi pur comunque di storie e leggende popolari).

   Cercherò quindi di raccogliere un piccolo esempio, una piccola panoramica di questi bellissimi luoghi che sono riuscito a scoprire, luoghi che mi hanno fin da subito stregato, e come di consueto cercherò di raccontarli per immagini accompagnandole con qualche storia, aneddoto o suggestione poetica ove possibile: è quello che mi piace fare, scoprire e raccontare con entusiasmo.

Coasts, lakes and rivers of Romagna

   When we say Romagna, the first thought immediately goes to the Adriatic coast, the sea and the discos, but in Romagna there are many other things to discover, such as the Po Delta area or the Comacchio Valleys, beautiful and evocative environments, but even the mountains of the Romagna Apennines hide almost unknown treasures, including the beautiful rivers rich in crystal clear waters often emerald, with waterfalls, natural pools, ravines and canyons that are truly wild and spectacular. 

   I was pleased to notice that in these parts many people go to the river, to walk, to take refreshing baths, to read, meditate, practice yoga or simply to relax, have fun and stay in contact with nature: in my province, however, it is often lacking this contact with nature "behind the house", in my home province is much more rooted than the "myth" of exotic travel or trendy locations. Then you know, the Romagna people like to live a little over the top, "also because here an hot sun beats on their already warm heads, so as to make them piping hot" (1), and it can also be seen from some details I have seen in remote and difficult to reach places. To reach some particularly steep points on the river, it is not known by whom, ropes were placed to facilitate the descent in the most exposed points, and in these remote unknown wet places they built rudimentary shelters with stones and sticks, put ropes hanging from the trees used to jump into pools of water and under waterfalls, and many improvised barbecues can be seen scattered among the pebble beaches. And not least, on several occasions I happened to meet happy bathers at peace with the world, happy to show off their adamic costume, and with whom I immediately found myself in empathy. So many interesting ways to enjoy nature and freedom, immersed in rivers and forests of enchantment, and I have to report with pleasure, for the record, that I have never found abandoned waste, a remarkable merit for the people of Romagna!

   In many folk stories and legends of Romagna, reference is made to the sometimes somewhat excessive and exuberant character of its inhabitants, warning on the harmful consequences of certain behaviors; but traveling around Italy, and beyond, it is clear that whole the world is a village, a cliché that is never denied. "But so much so that the Romagna people are, on the contrary, by character, sanguine, impetuous, and hardly manage not to run above the lines. On the other hand, some famous proverbs reiterate in a rich and concrete way this character often excessive and apparently indomitable. If the saying "eating and arguing the most is to begining" underlines how difficult for a Romagna to measure one's actions from the moment in which the impetus and passion are unleashed, as much "a good eater is a good worker" softens the tone by highlighting how, in everyday life, we can find a way to reconcile and balance the negative and positive elements. " And this definitely fluctuating character does not spare even those who should set a good example of sobriety and righteousness, like Don Piren "an old parish priest, witty lover both of the Romagna dialect and of the best Sangiovese, who infected by the place, in the rare moments of lucidity allowed by the wine, he used to finish his bizarre interventions with the recurring joke: ... and there is no doubt that all the mad come from Seguno. " (1) Sorry, the translated line does not have the same effect in rhyme. Seguno is a small village on the Forlì hills, famous for the bizarre behavior of its inhabitants, of course it is still a matter of popular stories and legends.

   I will therefore try to collect a small example, a small overview of these beautiful places that I was able to discover, places that immediately bewitched me, and as usual I will try to tell them in images accompanying them with some story, anecdote or legend where possible: that's what I like to do, discover and tell with enthusiasm, please visit the photo albums shown above.
