Here I begin the exposition of my research, in continuous evolution and, I repeat, without any historical pretense, but solely dictated by my curiosity. I will not dwell much on the historical details and dates, these news can easily be found on any tourist brochure, and frankly I am a bit bored with these things.

My research more than historical we can say that it is moved by a "romantic" spirit, castles fascinate me for everything they evoke in our imagination: places of mystery, populated by a multitude of real and fantastic characters (knights, princesses, dragons , ghosts, vampires ...). I am also completely enraptured by the romantic, melancholy and nineteenth-century charm of the ruins and wild places, where heroic squared stones tenaciously resist the attacks of time.

Even just imagining how one could live in those places is simply fascinating and also provides us with terms of comparison to probe and evaluate our daily life, our values and their relativity. Here too lies the true value of history: to investigate the daily life of people who lived in a given era, their techniques, their ideas, what they thought and did, what meaning they gave to existence, to draw food for thought and comparison with our lifestyle, rather than knowing by heart all the genealogies of the noble families, the dates of the battles or the succession of the papacy, rather sterile and useless notions in our daily life!

Below you will find a Map of the Parma Castles that I searched on Google where I tried to report every single castle, fortress or fortification of which I found news, clicking on each single icon will open a box where you can find an essential description. For a better navigation experience I recommend using the full screen map.
